At any given time there are over 12 million people being forced intolabor as a result of trafficking. Human trafficking is anever-growing market with many disastrous side effects and outcomes. The International Labor Organization has been trying to control thisblack market and was put in place by the United Nations. The ILO putinto effect the current standards for labor, or any servitude againstthe person's will. Human Trafficking is a multi-faceted threat tothe world. It not only affects the people being trafficked and theirfamilies, but also global health, the development of countries, andthe society of the countries subjected to this. There are over 60countries on the watch list for not complying with minimal laborstandards and are still not doing anything about it. More than sixtycountries are on a watch list ranked either tier 2 or 3 based ontheir compliance with the labor standards. According to the 2010Trafficking in Persons Report: Tier 2 countries do not fully complywith the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking but aremaking significant efforts to do so, and meet one of the followingcriteria: 1. They display high or significantly increasing number ofvictims, 2. they have failed to provide evidence of increasingefforts to combat trafficking in persons, or, 3. they have committedto take action over the next year. Tier 3 countries neither satisfythe minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking nordemonstrate a significant effort to do so.
